SEG Measurement recently completed a two year study of the impact of hand held devices on elf productivity. In a joint press conference, Santa and SEG's president, Dr. Scott Elliot announced that the results indicate that elves provided with iPads equipped with the iChristmas application assembled and packaged nearly 10% more toys than a control group of elves who were not provided with the hardware or software.
"Elves equipped with handheld devices and productivity software showed a statistically greater difference in productivity than elves who did not have the benefit of this technology," said Dr. Scott Elliot, President of SEG.
"We expect to reduce the number of elves by about 10% next year to reflect this increased productivity." said Santa. "Elf reductions along with associated reductions in food and housing expenses are expected to reduce our workshop costs substantially during fiscal year 2012," added Santa.
This research was conducted as part of a multi-year effort on the part of the North Pole to reduce production and distribution costs. We will soon be reporting on the results of several other studies including social media use among reindeer and the impact of elf cloning on long term production gains.
This article illustrates the importance of effectiveness research in educational technology. SEG would be happy to discuss your unique study needs. Please contact us to help you plan and execute your research.
