Madame Tussaud to Open  Assessment Professional Wax Museum in Iowa City

It appears that the long overdue plans for a wax museum honoring distinguished individuals in the measurement profession is coming to fruition.   While not all of the exhibits have been determined, we have been able to discover plans for a few of the key exhibits.

The Madame Tussaud group faced several key challenges.  Most importantly, most of what Measurement people do is inherently boring and does not lend itself well to visual display.  Therefore they have taken some license with the facts surrounding the lives of several key figures in the industry.

The first display will feature  a detailed wax replica of Robert Thorndike in a cave man outfit discovering the secret of fire.

As the visitor moves forward in the exhibit, he or she will encounter Frederick Lord and Melvin Novick appearing as mad scientists with an audio backing track screaming IRT tidbits followed by Ghoulish laughs.

Other exhibits slated for the museum include Ron Berk in Saturday NIght Fever garb in a discotheque,  Wayne Camarra as an Olympic ski racer and Hari Hari Swaminathan as a Coke dealer in the inner city.

The closing exhibit calls for more than 100 figures modeled on Measured Progress Staff singing a measurement inspired version of "It's a small, small world....It's a small world after all".

NCME to sponsor World Tour of "Psychometrician's on Ice"
In an effort to improve the image of Psychometricians and to address the growing recruitment problem, NCME announced that it will provide the financial backing for and sponsor the first world tour of "Psychometricians on Ice"

Detailed plans for the Tour remain secret, but we have been able to learn some of the plans for the Show.  There are strong indications that the Show will feature Ron Hambleton in a stunning opening number called "The Magic of IRT".  Apparently the number will feature Ron Hambleton doing increasingly rapid ogives on skates citing Frederick Lord's original formulas for the three parameter model.  (Many familiar with Ron know that he is an excellent skater and avid hockey enthusiast.)

Recapping his earlier Broadway career, Ron Berk will be doing a series of musical numbers illustrating several measurement principles through familiar Broadway show tunes.  Our source tells us, this will include the familiar anchor tune from Man of La Mancha, " I Don Quijote, Man Of La Mancha" substituting the refrain "I, Robert Brennan, Man of Iowa".  This heartwarming version of Generalizability Theory is sure to wow audiences around the world.

Rumor also has is that the closing number will see Kurt Landgraff, President of ETS, skating out of a dimly-lit alcove to join Ron Berk in a stunning duet of "If I Were a Rich Man" from Fiddler on the Roof.
